Description
Sr. Cost Accountant
We’re looking for a Senior Cost Accountant for a company site in Houston, TX, a manufacturing operation.
This person needs to have strong, hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience — not just general accounting. Target areas are: standard costing, inventory accounting, BOMs/routings, COGS, variance analysis, and month-end close. Must be comfortable digging into manufacturing variances, understanding what is driving costs on the plant floor, and partnering with Operations to improve accuracy and performance.
Ideal background:
- 5+ years of accounting experience with meaningful manufacturing cost accounting.
- Standard cost development and maintenance.
- Labor, material, overhead, purchase price and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Inventory valuation/reconciliation and COGS.
- Experience working with BOMs and routings.
- Month-end close, journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Strong Excel and ERP experience.
- Able to communicate financial findings to non-finance/operations leaders.
Must be able to operate fairly independently and be a strong partner to both Finance and Operations.
